I’ve never actually met Steve Trenk in person, but our circles probably are much closer than we might think. I too grew up in New Jersey, in a small town named, Morris Township. Not too far, as the crow fly’s from where Steve spent his formative years. It’s ironic somehow that we both have endured the brunt of ‘jersey’ jokes. They are quite familiar to me, and it appears to Steve as well. Isn’t “Jersey in England”, is my usual reply to this crude, and closed-minded anachronism aimed at those who think they know New Jersey, but end up in their irrational description somewhere near the Meadowlands, or the vast salt flats leading nowhere, and piling up near a garbage dump. It’s probably from watching TV shows such as the Soprano’s or having their plane re-routed to Newark Airport, or maybe they got lost at rush hour by the Lincoln Tunnel. That’s too bad, because New Jersey is an incredibly diverse and in the context of beauty, an unusually unexploited place. Most Americans don’t know the real New Jersey, and that’s how I like it. At any rate, reading through Steve’s answers to my questions, brought me to a place of understanding of his own personal path to success. While mine took me to the culinary arts, a fresh pasta corporation, and the wine business. Steve used his brains to make something different. He took a path towards success and he made something really marvelous of himself. Steve Trenk, as you will discover works in the legal cannabis industry, which is exploding in popularity with this new found acceptance and de-stigmatization. The amount of brain power that powers its way through the intricacies of the legal cannabis industry is far, far removed the past, when we sold a few joints to our cannabis family at a Grateful Dead concert to stay, on the bus. Cannabis has evolved greatly and is pushing forwards into the Post-Modern Era. It’s “High” time to get on that bus again with these self-guiding, upper-intellectual industry leaders such as Steve Trenk. Located firmly at the helm in their own unique place in the cannabis universe. An experience of their own making, and therefore responsible for their own success, and the success of their investors. Thank you.

A Cannagar is much more granular that just another dozen roses. So in the room that I have to entice you to either get on a plane and fly to the places where these, ‘hand-held’ works of art can be acquired, you should then start dreaming of next year. Because a Luxury Cannagar is one of those things in life that a cannabis smoker lusts after. He/she may have tasted the finest herbs that money can buy and rightfully so. They are successful cannabis-heads and they take deep pride in their educated, good taste regarding their passion for rare cultivars. These, of course come at an extreme cost. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. In the case of a Cannagar, it is a combination of the finest flowers, grown with love on the top quality farms, woven into a tangle of concentrates, waxes, rosins, shatters, oils, kief, or a combination of all or none! There is extraordinary soul that goes into the manufacture of a Cannagar. It makes shelling out over a hundred dollars or much, much more, for one even more deeply enticing and just the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

Ever since I started covering the luxury cannagar space I’ve tasted some pretty lush cannagars. It’s really hard to determine the one that I enjoy the most, since the top of the house can be a very busy place. All have been intellectually amusing. The composite cannagars, for example, Lobo, which I discovered in Portland, Oregon, are the most exciting. Although you shouldn’t just seek out these examples. Sometimes simplicity is better for those of us who didn’t grow up smoking dabs. But first, what is a cannagar? In earlier articles, I’ve discussed the various forms of cannagars. For me, all I want are the ones with natural wrappers. What does this mean? Well, quite simply a natural wrapper doesn’t have tobacco in it. I’m not reviewing them, so don’t ask! It wasn’t until very recent that I accepted the flavor of a hemp wrapper as part of the biz, but first, the fan leaf, or sugar leaf is what my palate desires. Natural. Keep it simple. The first Lobo that I smoked was a tightly rolled, natural wrapper cannagar. It was pretty small, but it lasted for almost a month by only taking a couple hits off it per day. I thought immediately that the Lobo was a quality product, memorable in every way, and I had to find these toothsome wonders again.
When one thinks “Jersey Fresh” they immediately think about the successful marketing campaign for ‘Jersey’ grown fruits and vegetables. And rightfully so, because New Jersey is the Garden State, or so it says on our license plates. Over yonder, near Secaucus, New Jersey, another revolution is taking place. It is Jersey Fresh, 100%, just a different kind of produce is being nurtured. Here, at the Harmony Dispensary, they grow all of their fine medical cannabis, right on site. You can’t get much more Jersey Fresh than this. And, by the mental photographs that are encapsulated in my brain from visiting the grow, thank you. Covering the ultra-high end world of the cannabis biz is an exciting thing for a journalist. There are so many different facets of the business to focus on. The humble cannabis plant itself is so diverse, offering multiple uses from one seed. To be entrusted with the ability to taste and offer cohesive notes on the quality of the product is a great honor. Drilling down a bit deeper, and writing product notes, especially the ones on ultra-high-end cannabis inventions are a most subjective thing, especially to a taste maker. However, one of the downfalls of my craft as a taste maker, is that difficulty that I keep coming across in the broader marketplace. Many of the products that I’ve been given to sample are made with all great ingredients, they have to be tested multiple times for purity. I’ve found in the world of cannabis, pleasure in reviewing the 510 cart. These are pretty expensive products, and through my somewhat educated palate I aspire to give tasting notes that offer a deeper perception of their individual aromatics, effects and terroir. Recently, many of my samples have been skewed towards sweet, sweeter and sweetest, in the form of their aromatics and their overall flavor. The really sticky sweet ones do not appeal to me. It’s as if the entire cannabis community decided that all vape carts were to be sugary sweet. Pretty disappointing to someone who doesn’t make sweet drinks. That is until I tasted the oils produced by the vertically integrated company, located in San Jose California, named Caliva. “The Most Trusted Brand in Cannabis.” The two marvelously juicy cannabis oils that I was fortunate enough to taste from Caliva are the Cali OG, bursting with the earthy delights of the plant and the other beautifully designed 510 cartridge simply named Pillow Talk. Quite the provocative name for a simply designed, and marvelously topped with cool and sanitary stainless steel against my lips.
