With social-distancing efforts holding strong, many state legislators cancelled 4/20 celebrations in public outdoor spaces, including the massive gathering at Robin Williams Meadow in San Francisco. However, this national holiday is impossible to quell, especially with the growing movement of cannabis legalization sweeping the country. Hundreds of companies and industry leaders put their heads together to navigate the stay-at-home orders and organize virtual events to ensure the celebration continues safely in the face of COVID-19. Boy, did they succeed in their efforts.

Warren Bobrow=WB: Why Cannabis? What did you want to be when you (were younger) grew up? Who is your mentor? Indoor or outdoor grown? Why?
WB: I had a PowerHitter while I was going to prep school in the 1970’s in New Jersey. It seemed like everyone had one. I got mine at a Grateful Dead show. It appears that they have been lovingly re-created for the present day imbiber of any material, Hemp, CBD, even a hand-rolled tobacco cigarette. This isn’t like a bong. You can smoke a veritable plethora of materials out of it, not just cannabis- yet they were all seized at the border. From my view, this is a strange thing because so many devices pertaining to the use of illegal and legal smokable products are manufactured overseas, especially in Far Eastern countries. This is one product that used to be sold in the USA, for years. Why suddenly would it be illegal. And why now? No one seems to know or would even comment. With 4/20 rapidly approaching, I cannot buy one because our benevolent government deems them inappropriate for sale to an adult.
There is no category in the cannabis industry that has received more investment or positive speculation than infused beverages. According to a recent report on the global cannabis-based ‘alcoholic beverages market,’ this sector, which includes non-alcoholic cannabis-infused beers, wines, and spirits, is expected to grow by 19% or $155 million between 2020 and 2024 making it the fastest-growing segment of the cannabis industry. Constellation Brands was one of the first companies to eye this trend when it made an almost $4 billion investment in Canopy Growth (NYSE: CGC).
I had the great, good fortune to make a friendship with some dyed in the wool New York City B-Boy kids who are well on their way to making it big in life. What they do for a “living” is work in the legal cannabis industry within their alternate universe known as “Talking Terps”. Music, cannabis and Talking Terps? What do they have to do with each other? Should you be in the place and time to know what Talking Terps are, and more importantly what they represent, please read on. I was pleasantly surprised as to their maturity and their deep knowledge of the universe. Through Talking Terps, a wheel of discovery spins opposite of what we all know is going forward. You move forward and then back, expansion and retraction. To me, this represents the balance of the universe. To truly succeed in life one needs to push forward and then retract, then move forward again. Exactly what Talking Terps are all about. Confusing? Not at all. Hard work is the engine of success. Thank you friends, you did it your way. Through hard work and fortitude.

WB: Erica, please tell me about yourself? What is your inspiration to our plant? I understand your son has been helped by the healing component of cannabis? Please tell me about this?
Erica Daniels=ED:I am an activist, entrepreneur, author, healthy cook, loud music lover, community educator and mother. After my son was diagnosed in 2007, my life changed and gained new purpose. Since, I have focused on research, education and advocacy of natural health treatments for autism.
How could I say no? Weed and creative food? And that other connection? Well, Jewish anyway. I’m the one who is honored. Thank you!
