The California wildfires have wreaked havoc on over 3.5 million of acres of land and have displaced countless people all along the West Coast. These wildfires are unprecedented, destroying crops and homes alike. The dust and ash have polluted our sunny blue skies and turned them into an apocalyptic scene, causing very unhealthy air quality. Firefighters and frontline workers are working tirelessly to mitigate this disastrous destruction taking place. Cannabis growers generally harvest and process their plants for distribution in October and now face the challenge of diminished supplies and increasing consumer demands. Some notable cannabis brands have been doing their part to give back to their communities and provide some hope and relief during this dire time of need.
These companies have generously shown their support during such a stressful and straining time for California residents, frontline workers and cannabis businesses and we thank them for their continued services and contributions.
September 8 and September 10 2020
There are seminal moments when companies have the opportunity to separate themselves from the pack. This occurs when a company takes a bold stand, drawing a line in the sand and making it clear to the rest of the universe that they stand for something, something greater than themselves, something greater than the sum of their parts. Normally those moments are recognized through financial gains or innovative ingenuity, but in this particular case, it is through social responsibility during a global pandemic. That’s why when I heard that the international cannabis brand Binske was donating meals to the Feeding America COVID-19 Relief Fund, I wanted to learn more, so I contacted Alex Pasternack whom I interviewed last year for an article in Forbes. What I have learned is truly impressive. From April-July, the Binske brand is donating 5 meals for every Binske product purchased across the country.
With social-distancing efforts holding strong, many state legislators cancelled 4/20 celebrations in public outdoor spaces, including the massive gathering at Robin Williams Meadow in San Francisco. However, this national holiday is impossible to quell, especially with the growing movement of cannabis legalization sweeping the country. Hundreds of companies and industry leaders put their heads together to navigate the stay-at-home orders and organize virtual events to ensure the celebration continues safely in the face of COVID-19. Boy, did they succeed in their efforts.
