I received the honor of writing a Cannabis-Centric Valentine’s Day gift guide from my kind editors at Forbes- after my pitch, of course! The overall topic was certainly not your usual fare. The best diamond, best bottle of Single Malt Scotch, best Swiss-chocolates, nor the best online rose retailer interested me. I wanted something that most people have never thought about. And even fewer have tried. The Cannagar!

A Cannagar is much more granular that just another dozen roses. So in the room that I have to entice you to either get on a plane and fly to the places where these, ‘hand-held’ works of art can be acquired, you should then start dreaming of next year. Because a Luxury Cannagar is one of those things in life that a cannabis smoker lusts after. He/she may have tasted the finest herbs that money can buy and rightfully so. They are successful cannabis-heads and they take deep pride in their educated, good taste regarding their passion for rare cultivars. These, of course come at an extreme cost. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. In the case of a Cannagar, it is a combination of the finest flowers, grown with love on the top quality farms, woven into a tangle of concentrates, waxes, rosins, shatters, oils, kief, or a combination of all or none! There is extraordinary soul that goes into the manufacture of a Cannagar. It makes shelling out over a hundred dollars or much, much more, for one even more deeply enticing and just the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

Ever since I started covering the luxury cannagar space I’ve tasted some pretty lush cannagars. It’s really hard to determine the one that I enjoy the most, since the top of the house can be a very busy place. All have been intellectually amusing. The composite cannagars, for example, Lobo, which I discovered in Portland, Oregon, are the most exciting. Although you shouldn’t just seek out these examples. Sometimes simplicity is better for those of us who didn’t grow up smoking dabs. But first, what is a cannagar? In earlier articles, I’ve discussed the various forms of cannagars. For me, all I want are the ones with natural wrappers. What does this mean? Well, quite simply a natural wrapper doesn’t have tobacco in it. I’m not reviewing them, so don’t ask! It wasn’t until very recent that I accepted the flavor of a hemp wrapper as part of the biz, but first, the fan leaf, or sugar leaf is what my palate desires. Natural. Keep it simple. The first Lobo that I smoked was a tightly rolled, natural wrapper cannagar. It was pretty small, but it lasted for almost a month by only taking a couple hits off it per day. I thought immediately that the Lobo was a quality product, memorable in every way, and I had to find these toothsome wonders again.
When one thinks“Jersey Fresh”they immediately think about the successful marketing campaign for ‘Jersey’ grown fruits and vegetables. And rightfully so, because New Jersey is the Garden State, or so it says on our license plates. Over yonder, near Secaucus, New Jersey, another revolution is taking place. It is Jersey Fresh, 100%, just a different kind of produce is being nurtured. Here, at the Harmony Dispensary, they grow all of their fine medical cannabis, right on site. You can’t get much more Jersey Fresh than this. And, by the mental photographs that are encapsulated in my brain from visiting the grow, thank you. And a massive thank you goes to Shaya Brodchandel for your kindness by sharing your very special, “Jersey Fresh” grow with me.

Master mixologist Warren Bobrow, also known as the Cocktail Whisperer, has gained a cult following for his deceptively simple, elegant drink creations. Now, with his fourth book, he’s showing us how to get high while we drink, literally. But Warren’s take is more elevated than that. Cannabis Cocktails, Mocktails, and Tonics: The Art of Spirited Drinks and Buzz-Worthy Libations breaks infusing your homemade drink with cannabis into an easy-to-follow science and includes 75 fresh recipes. You’ll also find non-alcoholic alternatives and a breakdown of drink-friendly strains and their flavor profiles, from piney, mimosa-friendly OG Kush to super-savory Trainwreck to surprisingly absinthe-ready Sour Diesel. Here, the expert and writer talks about the most special spirits, the best bars in the country and why cannabis and cocktails are a brilliant match.

The more I spend time around the top of the house of the cannabis industry, I’ve even found certain niche environments that are exploding in popularity. And it’s not because the market is being flooded with these specialty products, far from! Nor is this incredible device being saturated with popularity in the media driven culture. No one really knows about them, (cannagars). This is probably because they are not inexpensive. This world of the best and the far better than just the best is exemplified by secretive, inner city culture and the explosion of wealth within the rap music industry. There is no lack of money for the very best loud that money can buy. And that’s really the rub, in a land of the good good, there are not enough hand-crafted cannagars to go around. So pay attention! In this brand new interview series, I’ll be interviewing the most influential journalists covering the cannabis industry. The intent is for these interviews is to be fun, enlightening, entertaining and of course informative.
We’re kicking off this new series of interviews with Warren Bobrow Author/Chef/Barman/Cannabis Alchemist. Bobrow has published five books on mixology and written articles for Forbes, Saveur magazine, Voda magazine, Whole Foods-Dark Rye, Distiller, Beverage Media, DrinkupNY and many other periodicals. Warran has also contributed to SoFAB Magazine at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum and has written restaurant reviews for New Jersey Monthly. It’s safe to say that Warren has a natural talent for words that simply flows through, as you will find out from his answers below.
From the very moment that the outer packaging, deeply reminiscent of luxury Chinese incense with lustrous gold leaf on the outside of the box. This brings your attention to the strikingly handsome red lettering, and then the box opens to reveal the polished glass inner tube. From here an almost mystical experience fills the room and your head. The box, upon examination in cannabis, nerd-speak reads several very important statements about the contents and the provenance of the flowers held within. The first and foremost is the name of this ultra-luxury cannagar. That is, quite simply, Made in Xiaolin. Turning the smooth paper packaging, in the shape of an octagon, and twisting it in a circle, reveals more pertinent information. Rolled Proper comes into view. This statement provides the quality framework for what rests within. The lettering states the name again, Made in Xiaolin. Pure luxury. Drilling down deeper, more information reveals itself with every twist of the wrist. Ring Gauge, in this case, the cannagar resting in my hand is a 40. Then, in block letters it reads information on the lit time, and in this case it is at least 1.5-2.0 hours! The flower is equally as important with the strain listed, making up this cannagar as Electric Lemon G II flower and Electric Lemon G, Live Resin in the carefully chosen mix.
