Nine Quick Questions: Project Runway Star Korto Momolu/Women Grow: NY Fashion Week

I love when fabrics are created using alternative materials such as hemp. I wrote a piece on furniture coverings made from this incredibly durable material last year, why not clothing? The problem is the looming of these fabrics. Because of the demise of fabric weaving in the USA, the technological necessity of finding skilled laborers who can work with hemp is miniscule. Add to that the lack of looms for weaving hemp fibers and there is room for advancement within this niche. Hemp is hot and hemp clothing with fashion elements? Now we’re talking! From the mind of Project Runway Star Korto Momolu and Women Grow comes NY Fashion Week. Exciting stuff from our most maligned plant. Cheers! WB

I had the opportunity while I was out in Denver to spend about an hour with Dan Anglin from CannAmerica. Our time together went from lunch over impossibly delicious sandwiches to a broad reaching and deeply introspective conversation. This is an intellectual man who does a very good job at hiding his wry humor and deep knowledge on many subjects. I’m honored, sir and proud to have spent some time and learning from you. Cheers! WB

Dr. Robert Flannery Of Dr. Robb Farms Shares His Wisdom Of Plant Sciences

DRF

I was in California a few months ago portraying myself as a famous cannabis author, (which coincidentally I am) at the Cannabis Drinks Expo. I was selected to be a keynote speaker for this event. As I set out to set the world asunder, because my presentation helped expose a few of the reasons why cannabis drinks are pretty oblique in the present day. They have a long way to go, unlike the brilliant plant sciences work that Dr. Robert Flannery is working with. I’m sitting here wondering why we can’t do better at making cannabis drinks, and Dr. Flannery is kicking the can of innovation directly through the goalposts of life. This is a humble, yet highly intelligent man who works in the cannabis industry. There are very few certified PhD’s in cannabis. Dr. Robert Flannery is one of the most intriguing. On the last day of my trip we sat for several hours, conversed and enjoyed the benefits of the brilliant German-made vaporizer machine known as the  Volcano over at SPARC in San Francisco.

The Five Questions: Discussed By Cannabis MD: Dr. Mary Clifton

TANYA MORGAN, GREEN STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

There aren’t too many MDs who work with cannabis at this moment in time in the NY/Metro area. Maybe out on the left coast there are more open minded MDs, but here in the New York City and the environs, traditional medicine has completely stigmatized even the most basic conversation surrounding the use of cannabis for anything other than purely recreational use. I know firsthand. I have several MDs and even a heart surgeon in my own family who are stigmatized by cannabis. Cannabis is treated by them as a pariah instead of a cure. My conversations with these people of healing have been pretty heated surrounding our healing plant.

Five Snappy Questions With Kraig Fox, President And CEO, High Times

High Times CEO Craig Fox
Kraig Fox © JAY BLAKESBERG

I’ve enjoyed the publication named High Times since I was a wee-lad, a mere teenager in the 1970’s. It was always my go/to for information on the illegal substance, cannabis. I would go on to later years by being disowned by my family for using cannabis, their loss! They had no idea of the power of cannabis, but what did they know? Obviously not enough.

Five Deeply Intellectual Questions With Andrew Davison, CEO Of GCH Inc

Andrew's smiling visage
Andrew Davison COURTESY OF ANDREW DAVISON

I sat with Andrew Davison during my trip to Denver recently and learned that he was influenced by the outdoor survival school named NOLS. Years back, when I first moved back to Morristown, NJ from living around the country working as a cook, my downstairs neighbor also graduated from the NOLS program. Small world? Perhaps, but this school is not just about survival in the wild, but it seems to train intellects certain skills that are absolutely essential in the corporate world. My friend went on to his own career in corporate America, just like Andrew Davison has found his niche in the cannabis business with the marvelous products named, Willie’s Reserve. I’m proud to have had the opportunity to share some valuable time with Andrew because he is intrinsically geared to the kind of success that only the rarest of individuals can share. But he does, and with a genuine smile. Thank you Andrew, you brought light into my day. With this, it is my honor to introduce Andrew Davison, CEO of GCH Inc. Cheers all. WB
